An advisory group supports community involvement in complex, long-term projects by building knowledge over time and bringing together diverse perspectives. It helps ensure decisions reflect understanding between decision-makers and the community, and creates meaningful opportunities for broader participation in shaping outcomes.
The advisory group will play an important role in connecting the Stehekin community with the project team and decision-makers. Its work will create and maintain effective channels of communication, actively seek feedback from a wide range of community members, and ensure different perspectives are represented. The advisory group will present feedback and information in a clear and organized way to guide county, utility, and other government planning and policy efforts.
The Community Advisory Group will be composed of 7 to 9 members, to ensure balanced representation across a range of interests and stakeholder groups. This balance is intended to promote fairness, foster diverse perspectives, and support informed decision-making that reflects the broader community.
Meetings will be held virtually to ensure participation from both residents and non-residents between October 2024 and Spring 2025. The schedule will be designed to align with key decision points and milestones while also accommodating the needs of members and decision-makers. A project team member will facilitate meetings by managing time, guiding discussions, ensuring diverse input, and fostering collaboration to achieve objectives.
Members will serve as liaisons between the community and decision-makers, ensuring two-way communication by sharing information, gathering feedback, and representing varying perspectives. They will build deeper knowledge on complex issues, attend meetings regularly, participating openly and collaboratively in group decision-making, and keep a focus on the broader community interests and the “big picture.”
We currently have about 16 people who have expressed interest in joining.
To create a well-rounded group, we are asking for the community’s collaboration to help shape the membership list by selecting 7-9 members reflecting well balanced representation.
If you expressed interest, you should have already received an email with more details. We encourage everyone to stay engaged in this process and share your input as we move forward.
