An advisory group supports community involvement in complex, long-term projects by building knowledge over time and bringing together diverse perspectives. It helps ensure recommendations reflect understanding between decision-makers and the community, and creates meaningful opportunities for broader participation in shaping outcomes.
The advisory group will serve as a sounding board and communications hub, reviewing draft materials, providing input, and sharing updates with their networks. Members are not expected to reach consensus on every issue; instead, they help ensure diverse perspectives are accurately reflected in the planning process. The group does not make decisions but provides recommendations and oversight as the plan is developed and integrated into the Comprehensive Planning process.
Membership of interested stakeholders will ensure balanced representation across a range of interests and stakeholder groups. This balance is intended to promote fairness, foster diverse perspectives, and support informed recommendations that reflects the broader community.

Meetings will be held virtually to ensure participation from both residents and non-residents between October 2024 and Spring 2025. The schedule will be designed to align with key decision points and milestones while also accommodating the needs of members and decision-makers. A project team member will facilitate meetings by managing time, guiding discussions, ensuring diverse input, and fostering collaboration to achieve objectives.
Members will serve as liaisons between the community and decision-makers, ensuring two-way communication by sharing information, gathering feedback, and representing varying perspectives. They will build deeper knowledge on complex issues, attend meetings regularly, participating openly and collaboratively in group decision-making, and keep a focus on the broader community interests and the “big picture.”
We currently have about 16 people who have expressed interest in joining our meetings.
The broader community will have the opportunity to provide input at each step in the process. We are asking for a larger commitment from the advisory group to learn at a deeper level and engage more often.
